Remote learning, a new and fun way for kids to learn.

Remote learning allows children to study progressively without the need for physical attendance in a traditional classroom.

Covid-19 shook up the world, and things we took for granted were suddenly no longer guaranteed.

Take the example of education, where schools were shut down as we tried to mitigate the spread of the pandemic. This resulted in an unforeseen and unwelcome halt in the educational progress of our children.

However, an alternate way forward was found through remote learning – which allows children to study progressively without the need for physical attendance in a traditional classroom.

What is Remote Learning and how does it work?

Remote Learning, also known as Virtual learning, is divided into two modes.

The first is Asynchronous Learning, where study materials are availed through email, forums and message boards, and the children can access them at different times depending on their schedules.

A great example is Google Classroom where teachers can post assignments, videos, power point presentations, quick check questions, warm-ups, and exit tickets – which the children can then access through the platform.

The second is Synchronous Learning, where children are able to join a classroom online and study at the same time.

This usually happens through virtual classrooms where they can voice their questions and interact with teachers and peers similar to how they would in a regular classroom.

A pertinent example of this is the popular Zoom school which has made remote learning for kids really easy as it is global and affordable.

For the purpose of educating our children in these trying times that dictate prioritizing safety above all else, remote learning is a fantastic option as it facilitates concurrent interaction and engagement which leads to better understanding; allowing our children’s education to keep progressing regardless of the pandemic. This is where Yam Academy comes in.

What is Yam Academy and why should you choose us?

Yam Academy is a new remote learning platform for children aged 5-12, focusing on out-of-the-box learning experiences.

We have fun and unusual remote learning activities for children, centered on STEM for kids.

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

These are all areas of learning that our kids need to be comfortable with to excel in the future.  STEM makes creators, thinkers, problem solvers, doers, innovators, and inventors.

Examples of fun STEM for kids include creating clouds in a jar, sticky note number match, coding a LEGO maze, creating crystal sun catchers, jelly bean building as well as creating stop-animation videos.

We also have group discussions and fun games like Bingo, Scavenger hunts, Charades, Dance and Freeze.

See how fun and exciting remote learning can be for our children?

This is how YAM Academy promotes healthy screen time for children, making education fun and progressive wherever you and your children are in the world.
